Photo Blogging, Vlogging and Instagram?

by on November 23, 2016

In our latest episode of the Shutter Time With Sid and Mac podcast, Episode 148 »» Photo Blogging, Vlogging and That Other Place, we discussed just that – the possible demise of photo blogs and the increased use of Instagram by photographers, and even the seemingly growing number of photographers who also vlog. If you’re interested, please give the show a listen! It did make me wonder what I am doing with a photo blog as I certainly do not post here on a regular basis, nor do most photographers I know do the same with their blogs. My galleries need to be updated and this task takes priority, but it doesn’t mean a blog should be left outdated and those dust bunnies be left to multiply … I think. Blogging is a great way to share your thoughts on the industry, and even better – sharing your images, from the latest and greatest to the archives, and personal projects and/or client work if you can.

Is it a waste to blog and not tell a story with your words as well as your images? Can images alone make a blog post? I’m not sure. I’d love to hear your thoughts … you can find me on Twitter where we can have a chat!

Speaking of keeping those dust bunnies at bay, perhaps it’s time to publish those older posts piling up and collecting dust in my drafts.
